This talk offers a dive into landscape ecology as a way of understanding land as a dynamic, interconnected system, and shows how computational design, GIS, and ecological mapping can inform more regenerative approaches to planning and architecture. Drawing from work in landscape ecology and geospatial analysis, it examines how patterns of water, terrain, vegetation, movement, and built infrastructure shape ecological performance across scales. Through applied examples in spatial modeling and design-driven mapping, the talk shows how engineers, architects, and designers can use data and computation to reveal hidden landscape relationships and guide decisions that strengthen resilience, biodiversity, and long-term ecological function.
