Mapping The Path To A Better Future

Connecticut GIS Day
CT GIS, Yale University, URSIA

In November 2017, Molly Burhans delivered a talk titled Mapping the Path to a Better Future at Connecticut GIS Day, hosted by CT GIS, Yale University, and URSIA. The presentation highlighted some of the projects she had led that year and how they demonstrated the transformative power of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in addressing a variety of challenges, including environmental sustainability, urban planning, and social equity. Drawing from her expertise in cartography, geospatial analysis, and her work in ecclesiastical geography, Burhans demonstrated how GIS can be utilized to visualize complex data, inform decision-making, and foster innovative solutions for a more sustainable and equitable future in the Catholic Church and shared lessons from this work that are applicable to other large landholders.
