Molly Burhans delivered a talk titled Using Property with Purpose to Create Landscapes of Our Future as part of the Agitating the Charism Lecture Series at Manhattan College, organized by the Lasallian Women and Gender Resource Center (LWGRC). In her presentation, she explored the potential of leveraging property ownership and land management to drive ecological restoration, social equity, and sustainable development. Burhans, as a woman leader in the Catholic Church and the fields of geospatial analysis and conservation, highlighted the importance of women in shaping a more sustainable future. She discussed how women bring unique perspectives and experiences to Church initiatives, environmental stewardship, and social justice, underscoring the significance of female voices in advancing global solutions to pressing challenges. By advocating for purposeful land use, Burhans discussed how everyone can shape landscapes for a more equitable and sustainable world and the importance of including women and their gifts and abilities in this work, aligning with the Lasallian commitment to justice, community, and environmental care.
